Panel from page three...

Another brand spanking new page is up over on the "F Your Space Ninja" blog. Go check it out here:

Be advised that this is the first page that has some bad words, parental advisory if you will. With a title like "F Your Space Ninja", you knew it was going to happen right? Oh, and there will be violence, too. Enjoy!

Killer Queen Anthology

Just a heads up, everyone. It was announced that I will again be working with the wonderful people over at Red Stylo Media this year. This year the awesome peeps over at Red Stylo have decided to do an anthology about the classic rock band Queen. I'm super excited to be invited to the party again this year and really can't thank Red Stylo enough for giving me the opportunity. Give a look at the list of all the contributors here:

And while your over there, buy something from Red Stylo. Might I suggest the Unfashioned Creatures anthology, that I also contributed to... hint, hint, nudge, nudge :)

F Your Space Ninja

Hey All,
I wanted to share some exciting news with you all. The new web-comic that my wife and I are doing together went live yesterday. After years of talking about it, I'm throwing caution into the wind and just doing something. I will be handling the art duties and hoping my wife, Leah Folkes, will stick around to do the color art for the series. Man, those colors are slick, huh?
The series is called " F Your Space Ninja" and is about, yep, you guessed it, a ninja in space. When I was thinking about titles, I wanted something with kind of an edge and funny. I hope people aren't offended or insulted by the title as, it's not jab or meant to insult anyone. Throwing caution into the wind....
And I hope you'll come along for the ride.

The Walking Dead Sketch Cover

I've always seen those nice "blank" sketch covers and have always wanted to work on one but, never had an excuse to... until now! Also add to the fact that it was a "Walking Dead" sketch cover to boot. Whoo-Hoo :)
The guy wanted his buddy Duf to be drawn on the front in zombie style. I had to make sure I didn't mess this up because I only had on chance to make sure I got it right. I'm pretty stoked with the way it came out. The Walking Duf... awesome! Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a great holiday season.

Miami Fan Commission

This was a really fun request. The customer wanted to get a caricature for her husband for the holidays. Turns out her husband is a big Miami U. fan, so she asked could I put his head on one of the more famous mascot poses. This was really a pleasure to do, and I really appreciate the opportunity. Enjoy!

Pastor's Light

So I had a couple of Christmas commissions and didn't even advertise this year cause I've had a lot of things going on as of late. I really do appreciate the people who did come out of the wood work to get  some art for the holidays. Thank you all so much :)

This was the first request and to be honest, I got a little carried away. It was done for a friend's pastor and she wanted the piece to be very comic booky. The pastor is a huge fan of comic books so I decided to do a spin of him and his family "Green Lantern" style. Super fun to do and I really hope the Pastor approves.

Barbarian practice page

Practice page from a script by Kevin Lacoste. This was a really fun page to do!

Friday, October 18, 2013

Wow, everyone. It's been way too long since I've posted here. I have some stuff I've been working on but, I haven't had the time to post lately. Sorry All.

I figured I would show a page that I had completed some time back but, forgot to post it at the time. I also thought some peeps might like to how a page is put together (or at least how I get there.)
As you can see I start with thumbnails or small sketches to see how I want the page to look. Then after I figure some things out...
I move on to the pencil stage. After that I move on to the inking part...
After that, I looked at the page and still wasn't happy with some of the choices I made. I decided to re-do the whole darn page and I think I works a whole lot better in the final version of the page seen here.
Even though I still think I could have done better in a couple of things. Overall pretty happy with it. Thanks for looking and
Big thanks goes out to Ivan Antonio, too. For posting the script " Hurting People" and allowing people to practice their skills on a super fun script like this one :)

M is for M-11

Another late entry for the Alpha-bots project , here is M-11 from the fantastic comics series Agents of Atlas.  Another one of my favorite comic robots and if you have seen this blog before you know I'll jump at any chance to draw this guy :)

D is for Death's Head

I haven't been keeping up with my regular posting on the current Alpha-bots project but, I have been keeping up with all of the awesome Robots that are posted week to week. You should do the right thing and check out the talents over on the site here:

I know this entry is super late but, I would lose sleep at night if I didn't pay homage to one of my favorite robots of all time, Deaths Head. I remember as a kid getting these comics and this character really left a mark. Not sure if it's because he's a robot bounty hunter or the funny way he talks.
I think it is really cool this guy has appeared in Transformer comics, Marvel comics, and even Dr. Who comics. I really only like the original Deaths Head and not the crappy re-designs that are II and III.
You can read more about the character here:'s_Head

I really need to find those comics I had as a kid again, I think they may be pretty rare though. Marvel UK line, I think...

Team Luckett part 2

The guy was so stoked on his logo designs, that he hired me to do a huge piece with his whole family. This is one of the biggest art pieces I have done in a while but, found the challenge very fun. The customer seemed really happy with the final piece and I can't thank him enough for allowing me to do this work :)
Thanks for looking everyone!

Hammer Head sharks

I have been asked to come up with a Hammer-head shark type idea for a new t-shirt for a company. Trying to figure out what they are shooting for so, these are some brainstorming for the project ( Hope to be able to talk more about this soon). If you are familiar with this blog some of these may look similar to the tattoo designs I did for a friend awhile back. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more exciting news coming soon!

Best Day Ever

Another cool thing about the comics experience forums are you have access to a plethora of awesome scripts. The guys over there are really serious about writers and artists getting together to do collaborations, too. During my last class we were asked to complete a one page script that were provided by some excellent writers on the forum. This was my attempt at Rob Anderson's script "Best Day Ever". Rob is a super talented dude and I had a blast trying to bring his script to life!
You can read more about Rob here:

Also check out Rob's awesome comic here:

Thanks for looking everyone and I hope you are having the best day ever :)

Brutal Consequence

So a couple of months back I decided to join the Comics Experience creator's workshop and take some classes. I'm really glad I did because I have met some awesome people there. This piece is one of the best things I have ever had the pleasure of being involved in. This was an attempt at sequential work for me and I found this excellent script that was a reverse 3 panel page. The script was by a talented writer named Luke Barnett and the FANTASTIC inks were done by Gannon Beck. Gannon really made this piece shine with his stellar skills. Big Thanks to both Luke Barnett and Gannon Beck. I have a feeling you'll be hearing more of both these studs in the future.
